Our beloved mother passed away on Jan. 26, 2023, at the age of 92, in her home of 57 years. She is forever in the arms of Jesus, the Lord she loved and so faithfully served.
She was born in Los Angeles on May 4, 1930, raised on a farm and enjoyed a happy childhood.
In 1950 she married dad, and together they raised seven children until his death in 2012.
In 1964, while on a family outing to Jungleland in Thousand Oaks, they saw a billboard advertising the Shadow Oaks tract with six-bedroom, three-bath homes. And thus proceeded to move the family to Thousand Oaks.
After being a stay-at-home mom in the early years, in 1968 Mary Anne decided to take a job waitressing in the dining room at the Holiday Inn. After a few years there she worked banquets at Westlake Inn until 1995.
Mom and dad were always avid bridge players. They played at the Goebel Center as well as the Saint Paschal Baylon church group, where they served as leaders of the seniors club.
She was one of the original ushers at the opening of the Civic Arts Plaza, and she continued to volunteer and enjoy the shows for 20 years.
Mom and dad experienced a tour of Europe and the Holy Land, as well as many other travels.
Her family was her greatest joy, and she will be missed dearly.
Mary Anne is survived by her children, Marlene (Rich) Hallack, Marsha Allawos, Jim (Susan) Allawos, Michelle (Jim) Crofford, Jeff Allawos and Joe Allawos, all residing in Thousand Oaks. And her sister, Theresa Pinney of Minden, NV., as well as 11 grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Predeceased by her husband Phil 1/7/12, and her eldest child John 10/16/21.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8 at Saint Paschal Baylon Catholic Church, 155 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks. Internment will follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Road, Camarillo.
We would like to give thanks to Buena Vista Hospice, for their guidance, kindness and care.
