A 24-year-old Thousand Oaks man was stabbed to death early Sunday outside a Newbury Park apartment complex in what police are calling a homicide.

The crime happened around 3:30 a.m. May 22 at the Hillcrest Park apartments, 1800 W. Hillcrest Drive, police said.

Deputies responding to a report of a disturbance found Oliver Willis in the parking lot near the entrance to a group of apartments with multiple stab wounds, said Capt. Cameron Henderson of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

Responding paramedics declared the young man dead at the scene.

His killer or killers fled before deputies arrived, Henderson said. As of this afternoon, no arrests had been made and no suspect descriptions have been released.

Investigators were still on scene at the apartments midmorning, combing an area sectioned off with yellow tape. The complex west of Ventu Park Road is directly across the street from the Amgen campus.

Willis attended Thousand Oaks High School and Moorpark College, according to his social media profiles.
