Engler, Newman secure council seats


As of 1:27 a.m. Wed., Nov. 9, here’s where local races stood (semi-official results):

Ventura County Board of Supervisors District 2

Jeff Gorell leads Claudia Bill-de La Peña by 414 votes, 21,474 to 21,060. Bill-de La Peña led by nearly 2,000 votes after the first results were posted. 

Thousand Oaks City Council

With three seats up for grabs, incumbent Bob Engler (20%) and David Newman (15%) have secured the first two. The third and final seat will come down to Kyle Rohrbach vs. Mikey Taylor, who as of 1:27 a.m. Wednesday, were separated by 292 votes, with Taylor leading.

Rohrbach had a 900-vote lead after the first results went live.

Sharon McMahon and incumbent Ed Jones sit in fifth and sixth place respectively with 11% each.

Rounding out the 10-person field: Halla Maher (8%), Jeff Schwartz (5%), Anoiel Khorshid (3%) and Dan Twedt (1%).

Conejo Valley Unified School District 

Incumbent Cindy Goldberg is leading challenger Sophia DeDomenico in Area 4 by 823 votes, 57% to 43%. In Area 3, incumbent Bill Gorback was ahead 2,432 votes (58%) to Karen Meyer’s 1,767 (42%). 

For Area 2, Lisa Powell stood in front of Joelle Mancuso by 977 votes, 57% to 43%. 

Conejo Recreation and Park District 

In one of the night’s closest races, Doug Nickles (20%), Marissa Buss (19%) and Nellie Cusworth (18%) stood 1-2-3 as of 1 a.m. Both Nickles and Cusworth are incumbents.

In fourth was Anthony Angelini (15%) followed by Connie Guiterrez (13%), Chaise Rasheed (11%) and Ariah Boyle (3%). The top three win seats.
