Los Robles Health System collected 525 pounds of medications Oct. 29 during an event it dubbed “Crush the Crisis.”

The event aligned with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day and was intended to raise awareness of the danger of opioid misuse and the importance of safe and proper disposal of unused and expired medications.

Community members dropped off unused and expired medications, which were collected by county law enforcement officers.

“‘Crush the Crisis’ was a great opportunity to team up with our community on this important cause and to also address the opioid crisis and identify safe and proper ways to dispose of medications that often are forgotten about,” said Dr. Gabriella Sherman, chief medical officer of LRHS.
