CARRY ON— Clara Knopfler, an author in her own right, is slated to speak Sunday during a special event to celebrate the new book “The Cat Who Lived With Anne Frank.” In 1944, Knopfler and her family were taken by Nazis from their home in Romania to Auschwitz.

Authors Steven Jay Rubin and David Lee Miller will host an educational presentation with Holocaust survivors at 2 p.m. Sun., March 3 at Barnes & Noble, 160 S. Westlake Blvd., in Thousand Oaks.

As part of the event, the pair will sign copies of their new illustrated children’s book, “The Cat Who Lived with Anne Frank,” published by Penguin Random House. Actor Jonathan Lipnicki (“Jerry Maguire,” “Stuart Little”) will read passages from the historically accurate book, which tells Frank’s story through the eyes of Mouschi the cat, who actually lived in hiding in the famed Secret Annex.

Miller, a Westlake Village resident and veteran filmmaker, is best known locally for co-founding Regenerate Films, a Ventura County-based organization dedicated to giving young people a voice through multimedia.

The book is illustrated by artist

Elizabeth Baddeley, whose prior work includes the awardwinning children’s book “I Dissent: Ruth Bader Ginsburg Makes Her Mark,” published in 2016.

Among the Holocaust survivors due to speak during the event are Conejo Valley residents Michael Mark and Clara Knopfler, who regularly make presentations at local schools and libraries.

There is no cost to attend.
