Pop goes . . . the music. And the stories. And the movies.

The City of Thousand Oaks and the Thousand Oaks Alliance are teaming up to present the eight-day Pop-Up Arts and Music Festival over three weekends in June.

The festival will feature free “pop-up” public performances and activities at a variety of locations throughout Thousand Oaks.

According to a news release, the fest’s goal is to provide residents and visitors with an opportunity to enjoy the arts in unexpected locations throughout the community.

The festival will feature a mix of local and regional talent as well as national performing artists.

“The Pop-Up Arts and Music Festival spotlights the diversity of our local arts community and provides an opportunity for residents to come together in shared cultural experiences,” said Barry McComb, T.O. cultural affairs director.

“Although this year’s festival consists of eight events spread over three weekends, within the next few years our goal is for the festival to grow to 30 cultural events over 30 days.”
