The Conejo Valley’s Chinese community is getting ready to ring in the Year of the Water Rabbit and everyone is invited.

The Conejo Chinese Cultural Association is hosting its long-running lunar New Year’s celebration at 7 p.m. Sat., Feb. 4 at the Kavli Theatre, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., T.O.

The event, which features dancing performances and music, dates back to 1980. This year’s gala is the first since 2019.

CCCA Thousand Oaks Chinese School students and teachers, along with volunteers and local artists, will celebrate Chinese culture through their songs, dramas, dances and performances.

Chinese New Year starts Jan. 22, beginning 15 days of festivities. Also known as the Spring Festival, it is a time for families to gather for colorful celebrations and traditional lion dances.

According to the Chinese zodiac, 2023 is the Year of the Water Rabbit, an animal representing longevity, peace and prosperity.

Tickets range from $25 to $45 and are available through the Bank of America Performing Arts Center box office or ticketmaster.com. For more information, call (805) 405-9750 or email cnyp2023@gmail.com.
