5G tech would be beneficial

I’m writing to discuss the recent debate surrounding 5G and the misconceptions and fear held by some Thousand Oaks residents.

In viewing City Council meetings, I noticed residents coming in and giving stories and testimonies of how 5G would be dangerous and how the radiation emitted from these internet terminals are affecting their health.

As a current freshman at Cal Lutheran University, I find the prospect of faster internet to be beneficial. I personally believe that the improvement and growth of internet services are vital to our society.

Though I can understand the fear an individual would have of such things if they were uniformed or misled.

I live in a place where there is always technology and always internet signals, and I can tell you from my perspective that the only radiation that would be bothering students would be from the hot sunlight rather than their computer.

In fact, an iPhone 7 produces radiation on a level as low as 2.47 w/kg while the sun produces up to 120 watts per square meter.

Now I do acknowledge there are certain individuals with hypersensitivity when it comes to exposure to radiation, but the symptoms mentioned at council meetings seemed to be most, if not all, psychological.

Most effects the individuals had can be explained as psycho- somatic-induced illness. Though I do not claim to be any type of expert on the matter of health when concerning wavelength, I believe that my experience and knowledge with technology allows me to speak of concerns to how technology and internet affects one physically and whether we should continue to grow technologically as a community.
