At photo time they had logged 23 calls in a seven hour period, the most remote contact coming from Costa Rica. The radios are capable of providing backup communication when all other modes have failed because of disaster. Right: Greg Lane says Morse code over a ham radio is still one of the most reliable forms of communication. Operators can send a Morse code message faster than text messages on cell phones.
