Malibu Guitar Festival returns this weekend

The opening night fundraising show on Thurs., May 18 at Malibu Inn’s Casa Escobar will feature singer-songwriter John Hiatt, country star Hunter Hayes, ex-Wings guitarist Laurence Juber, Tom Petty drummer Steve Ferrone and Rolling Stones alumni Waddy Wachtel and Bernard Fowler. Doors guitarist Robby Krieger will receive the fest’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Hot Licks Night on Fri., May 19 at Casa Escobar features guitarist Steve Vai and a female-heavy lineup including Nik West, Lari Basilio, Gretchen Menn and Zepparella. Clips from the “She Rocks” documentary will be shown all night.

The Main Event concert from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sat., May 20 in the Malibu Village parking lot will feature the Mick Fleetwood Blues Band, Hunter Hayes, the Kenneth Brian Band, Tommy Emmanuel and Jamtown featuring Donavon Frankenreiter, Cisco Adler and G. Love.

The fest wraps up Sun., May 21 with a Rolling Stones tribute brunch at Malibu Village.
