Contest challenges teens to write letter to cancer
Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/ Santa Barbara is taking submissions for its fifth annual “Dear Cancer, It’s Me” high school essay contest till midnight Fri., March 17.
All students in grades nine through 12 who have dealt with cancer in some way are eligible to submit written essays of 500 to 2,000 words.
The contest has two categories: teens who have experienced cancer themselves, and those who have experience with a family member or friend who has or had cancer.
First-place winners in each contest category will receive $1,500.
Each second-place winner will be given $1,000.
Each third-place winner will receive $500.
