Cal Lutheran serves up a ‘Gift of Winter’

California Lutheran University will present its annual free Christmas Festival concert, “Gift of Winter,” at 8 p.m. Fri. and Sat., Dec. 6 and 7, and at 4 p.m. Sun., Dec. 8 in Samuelson Chapel, 165 Chapel Lane near Campus Drive in Thousand Oaks.

In addition to a narrated performance of Christmas music and traditional carols sung by the audience, the University Symphony will perform Vivaldi’s “L’inverno (Winter)” with violin soloist Antonio Foreman, a senior music major from Agoura Hills.

The choirs will sing “Lo, How a Rose e’er Blooming,” arranged by Los Angeles master chorale composer-in-residence Shawn Kirchner, and “The Chelsea Carol” by Eric Whitacre.

The program will also feature “Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus” by Kevin Isaacs and “Saw You Never in the Twilight,” arranged by university organist Kyle Johnson.

Music professors Daniel Geeting and Wyant Morton will conduct.
