Acupuncture, breast cancer are topics of speaker series
UCLA and Remedy Skin + Body partner for monthly talks
UCLA Health’s new Conejo Valley offices in Westlake and Thousand Oaks are partnering with Remedy Skin + Body to present a Distinguished Speaker Series featuring UCLA physicians. The free monthly health talks will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursdays at Remedy’s salon, 3723 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Westlake Village.
The talks will address a wide range of health and wellness topics as follows:
•April 4: Dr. Malcolm Taw of UCLA’s Center for East- West Medicine will discuss complementary medicine, in which techniques of both western biomedicine and traditional Chinese medicine are used in unison to treat chronic pain, arthritis and overuse injuries.
•May 2: UCLA oncologist Dr. Melissa Cohen will discuss the latest research on prevention and treatment of breast cancer.
•June 6: Dr. Rimma Shaposhnikov, UCLA endocrinologist, will present advances in diagnosis and treatment of digestive diseases. Nutritionist Melissa Glasser will cover the role of food and diet in illness prevention and good health.
