Speaker talks ‘real wealth’

Snortland Snortland “Caring Economics,” a vision for society that challenges conventional economic analysis in search of a more humane and effective model, will be the topic of a community forum at 7:30 p.m. Fri., Jan. 18 at the Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 3327 Old Conejo Road, Newbury Park.

Ellen Snortland— author, journalist and documentary filmmaker—will discuss “The Real Wealth of Nations: Creating a Caring Economics,” a book by social scientist and attorney Riane Eisler.

Snortland is a friend and protégé of Eisler’s, whose 2007 book maintains that America’s economic ills go deeper than deregulated markets and bad management. Eisler envisions a sustainable and equitable economy that cares for people and the natural environment.
