READ Y TO SOAR — Alex Monroe, 15, of Newbury Park Boy Scout Troop 753 was recently awarded the Boy Scout’s highest rank of Eagle Scout. For his Eagle project, Alex planned and constructed a post and rail fence at the Zuma Canyon trailhead parking lot for the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. The son of Astrid and David Monroe, Alex is an honor student who looks forward to serving many more years with his troop.
