Eagle Scout hopes to be surgeon

Jake deRonde Jake deRonde Jake deRonde, 14, from Boy Scout Troop 7878 in Thousand Oaks, was recently awarded the rank of Eagle Scout. A freshman at Westlake High School, Jake, who has played the trumpet since the fourth grade, is a member of the WHS Wind Symphony and Jazz Ensemble. He also plays on the JV boys’ water polo team. Two years ago, Jake organized a shoe drive for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti, collecting more than 600 pairs of shoes. An honor-roll student and dedicated student-athlete, he enjoys soccer, baseball and track. Jake intends to stay active in Scouting and hopes to one day become a surgeon. He is the son of Randall Edwards and Randy deRonde of T.O.
