La Reina freshman starts ‘Manna Mondays’

TAKING ACTION—In an effort to help stock the shelves at Manna, the Conejo Valley food bank, La Reina freshman Leila Flanagan started “Manna Mondays.” On the first Monday of every month for the past three months, Leila, 14, has stopped by one of eight businesses where she’s left a bin or bag for employees to use to donate to Manna. The business can choose to leave the bin out in the open where customers can donate as well. “Last month I took four bins of food to Manna,” said Leila, a Thousand Oaks resident. “It’s inspiring to see people donate just because I asked.” Leila puts up a banner in the business that donates the most during the month.
