Author fair to feature expert panel
The Ventura County Book and Author Fair will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat., Nov. 5 at Pleasant Valley Community Park auditorium, 1605 E. Burnley St., Camarillo.
The fair is produced by the Pacific Institute for Professional Writing, a California nonprofit, and co-sponsored by the Ventura County Writers Club; Small Publisher, Artist and Writer Network; and the Book Publicists of Southern California.
Educational sessions include “Five Things You Need To Know To Get Published” with editor and author Shelly Lowenkopf; “Your Life, Your Story: Writing The New Memoir” with Tristine Rainer of the Center for Autobiographic Studies; and “Plotting Through Characters” with award-winning author Margaret Brownley.
The session “Author-Promote Thyself!” will have a panel with Flo Selfman, publicist and president of the Independent Writers of Southern California; Julia Callahan, marketing and publicity director of Rare Bird Lit Los Angeles; and Kristin Alcorn, social media manager of WriteWorks Publishing.
The Book Expo is free. Those who register online will receive a coupon worth 20 percent off their first book purchase at the event.
The fee for the educational seminars is $25 per session. Seminars will run from 60 to 90 minutes. The sessions will have one speaker or panel discussion.
Seminar fees will offset costs and proceeds will benefit PIPW’s youth writing programs, workshops and other projects.
