Craig Steven Espenschied of Thousand Oaks died suddenly at his home the last week of March 2011. He lived alone and was 63 years old. Mr. Espenschied had lived in the Conejo Valley since 1962. He was a 1966 graduate of Thousand Oaks High School, where he played varsity baseball. Mr. Espenschied owned and operated a local landscape business in the 1960’s and ’70’s, and was a long time auto mechanic at Fred’s Auto service & Cooper’s Auto Repair in Thousand Oaks. During the last 10 years, he worked for a Thousand Oaks property management company. He was a boating enthusiast and built and enjoyed custom cars and motorcycles. Mr. Espenschied was a loyal friend to many longtime Thousand Oaks residents, and enjoyed a reputation as a great and helpful neighbor. He is survived by his father, Curtis Espenschied of Newbury Park, and a brother, Curt Espenschied of Redding, CA.
