Shelter overstocked in cats, dogs
Twenty-one dogs and 51 cats are up for adoption at the Agoura Animal Shelter, 29525 Agoura Road, after L.A. County seized them from an unsanitary kennel on Aug. 19.
A total of 100 dogs and 200 cats were divided among six county shelters after the animals were removed from an unlicensed rescue facility in the unincorporated area of Agua Dulce. Volunteers groomed the animals and vets examined them. Many were put on antibiotics due to upper respiratory infections from the terrible conditions they were kept in, said Agoura Shelter manager Denise Rosen.
Adoptions cost about $100 for each pet, which includes licensing, shots, a microchip and spaying or neutering.
When one cat is adopted, a second cat can be adopted for free.
