Believes in Christianity and all it stands for

This is in response to a letter by Thomas Harrison in last week’s edition (“Greek gods and supreme beings are all the same”).

I can’t believe that someone would lump all these false gods and myths in the same category as the one true God, Jesus Christ. But, then again, Satan is the father of lies and deceit.

Jesus Christ is God’s only son and is God. He’s one of three persons in the one true Godhead. He was born of a virgin, sinless and bodily rose from the dead, as he predicted.

There were more than 500 eyewitness accounts to testify this truth. His disciples and other men of old were used as an instrument to pen the Bible, but the Holy Spirit was the author, just in the same way as I pen, type or e-mail a letter. Those forms are my instruments, but I am the author!

It’s also so uncanny that Mr. Harrison uses the word “branches” to refer to different beliefs. In John chapter 15:1-5 Jesus says, “I am the true grapevine and my Father is the gardener. He cut off every branch that doesn’t produce fruit, and prunes the branches that do to produce more. More is only possible if you remain in me.

“Yes I am the vine and you are the branches. Apart from me you can do nothing!”

In 2nd Timothy chapter 3:16 it reads, “All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives.”

I pray if Mr. Harrison is really searching for the truth, he will read the Bible. If he’s just blowing off steam, well, true followers of Jesus Christ know the truth, and it does set you free. Dorothy Campagna Newbury Park
