10 Marmonte answers by Stephen Dorman

Who’s the most exciting

player to watch in the

Marmonte League?

We should’ve started with a cupcake question, but this is daunting. I’m going to say Avondre Bollar, the quarterback at Thousand Oaks. Bollar’s a baseball player at heart, but his ability to make plays on the football field can be jaw-dropping at times.

Which Marmonte team

is the most talented,

from top to bottom?

Westlake. They have big names, a huge roster and backups that could start all over Ventura County. This team lost its quarterback during last year’s section championship, plugged in a freshman and still won the game. Enough said.

Can any of these 10

programs go undefeated during the regular season?

No way. Next question. Which team will enjoy a

breakout campaign?

Thousand Oaks. The Lancers’ skill players at quarterback, running back and wide receiver are awesome. They just need to figure out how to finish games.

Who’s the league’s most

underrated player?

Jens Jeters, a linebacker/ running back at Simi Valley. Much like myself, this guy is a physical specimen. Unlike me, he has his own YouTube highlight video. Jeters tackles people like they keyed his car.

Best venue to

watch a league game?

Larrabee Stadium in Ventura. There’s an ocean view from the press box. I love that.

You’re down by

four points with three minutes to play. Who do

you want behind center?

Newbury Park senior Jake Geringer. This guy takes pride in protecting the football and has won 74 percent of his starts. Geringer can get it done.

The league’s best defense is?

Westlake. The Warrior defense always gets overshadowed by the team’s offense. Truth be told, defense is the reason Westlake won the CIF title a year ago. Offenses usually struggle to move the ball against the WHS front line.

Five guys you’ve heard

good things about?

Wesley Rowell, MLB/RB, Agoura; Justin Solis, DT, Westlake; Curtis Arndt, OT, Moorpark; Dillon van der Wal, DE/WR, Oaks Christian; Blair Holliday, WR, Oaks Christian.

Will a Marmonte team

play for a state championship

in December? There’s no doubt in my mind.
