Jewish studies program offered in Newbury Park
Jodie Spindel will offer Jewish Studies to unaffiliated Jewish families and their children in grades four through 10.
Spindel is a Newbury Park resident who is a specialist in Judaica and Hebrew.
Programs are offered to students under 13 to help them prepare for their bar and bat mitzvahs. A confirmation program for students over 13 gives them the opportunity to join in community service projects and activities. Classes feature guest speakers, Shabbat dinners and other observances.
Classes begin Sun., Sept. 19. Grades four through six meet once a week, and the confirmation classes meet every other week.
Spindel taught Judaica at the Center for Early Jewish Education in Thousand Oaks for 10 years. She is a member of Hadassah and served with the Emek Ha Ilanot group in various capacities, including two years as president.
