DAY OF THE HORSE—The equestrian lifestyle will be celebrated at Conejo Creek Equestrian Park at 10 a.m. Sat., Sept. 11. Admission is free. Exhibits, a silent auction and a petting zoo are planned. The sixth annual Day of the Horse, sponsored by Corral 37, will begin at 10 a.m. Sat., Sept. 11 at the Conejo Creek Equestrian Park, 1343 E. Avenida de Las Flores, in Thousand Oaks. Admission is free, and vendors are invited to show their wares at no cost.

Equine exhibitors, including gaited horses and drill teams, will entertain the crowd throughout the day. A petting zoo will feature miniature horses and ponies as well as pygmy goats, and free carriage rides will be offered.

Those attending can bid on silent auction items and purchase pizza, soft drinks, cookies and water. Money raised will buy hay for Ride On Therapeutic Horsemanship and California Coastal Horse Rescue.

The goal of Day of the Horse, an event for children and adults, is to show that the equestrian lifestyle is still going strong in Thousand Oaks, horse advocate Barbara Kloster said.

Veterinarians, blacksmiths, Conejo Recreation and Park District and the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department emergency volunteer rescue team are among the groups that will have booths on Saturday.

For more information or to be a vendor or exhibitor, call Kloster at (805) 494-8755 or e-mail computersnoway@verizon.net.
