30th Wings over Camarillo Airshow includes War Bird parade

The 2010 Wings over Camarillo Airshow, open to all aviation enthusiasts and their families, will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat. and Sun., Aug. 21 and 22 at the Camarillo Airport, Las Posas and Pleasant Valley roads.

The event is celebrating its 30th anniversary and bringing back a more than three-hour narrated flying exhibition featuring the aerobatic routines of Chuck Aaron in the Red Bull helicopter, John Collver in War Dog, Rob Harrison the “Tumbling Bear” and Torrey Ward in his RC micro-jet.

The exhibition will also have flybys of vintage, experimental and certified aircraft; a parade of War Birds; and formations of rarely seen WWII fighters, bombers and transport planes.

These aircraft and others will be available for close-up inspection on the ground. Builders and pilots will be available to answer questions.

Several planes and helicopters will offer rides for a nominal fee. WWII air crew members will share their stories.

Activities for younger children will be provided. Food booths and vendors will be available.

Admission is $10 for adults. Children 12 and under are free.
