Clausen accepts 4-year deal from Carolina Panthers
Former Oaks Christian quarterback Jimmy Clausen agreed to a four-year contract with the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday, according to multiple media outlets.
The contract includes $2.53 million in guaranteed money and could be worth as much as $6.3 million.
Clausen fell to the 48th overall pick in the second round of the NFLDraft out of Notre Dame after several draft pundits expected him to be a top-20 selection.
Although he’s expected to enter training camp third on the depth chart behind starter Matt Moore and backup Hunter Cantwell, Clausen could challenge Moore for a starting gig this season.
During his time at Oaks Christian, from 2003-06, Clausen helped the Lions win four CIF-Southern Section titles. In addition, he set California’s all-time high school touchdown passing record with 146 scoring tosses.
