Master Chorale announces audition schedule
The Master Chorale of Ventura County has announced open auditions for singers of all ages and voice types for its 50th anniversary year by appointment only on Sat., Aug. 14 and Tues., Aug. 17 at Guthrie Hall on the campus of Ventura College
Auditioners should have had previous choral experience. Choristers who have sung with the Master Chorale in the past and who would like to rejoin for this anniversary season are welcome.
Auditions are user-friendly. New singers, especially those with previous choral experience in other choirs or during their academic careers, should prepare a short solo of their choice. Sight reading abilities and voice quality will also be considered.
An accompanist is provided; singers should bring their own music. Singers with solo experience should bring a resume.
Rehearsals begin Aug. 24 at Guthrie Hall.
The repertoire under the baton of Burns Taft for the 2010-11 season will include works by Karl Jenkins and Benjamin Britten. The holiday concert in the Old Mission will include holiday music and old carol texts with original new music. Singers will also be part of a Tri-County choral collaboration.
Newly commissioned works for chorus and chamber ensembles and compositions performed for the first time in Ventura County will conclude the season at the mission.
