Conejo Valley Cares brings in performers to help fundraiser
The first major fundraiser for Conejo Valley Cares, a local nonprofit aid organization which helps residents in need with housing, transportation and food, will take place at 6:30 p.m. Sat., Aug. 7 at the Stagecoach Inn Museum, 51 S. Ventu Park Road, Newbury Park.
The first event in the Community Unity Concert Series, “Conejo Country Nights in Anderson Hall,” will feature singer, composer and musician Nancy Lee and cowboy poet J.P. Gorham performing from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
Both performers are Thousand Oaks residents. Lee has appeared on the cowboy festival circuit, including at venues in Big Bear and Santa Clarita. She performs Saturday nights at Ascension Lutheran Church in Thousand Oaks and at benefits such as Hospice of the Conejo’s recent golf tournament awards dinner. She has a CD, “Cowgirl’s Lullabye.”
Gorham, president of CV Cares, recorded his CD at the Stagecoach Inn.
Refreshments and a silent auction will be offered. The suggested donation of $30 includes docent-led museum tours from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
