New Girl Scout leader to encourage interest in math and science
Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast recently announced that Shari Bridges, chief advancement officer, has been appointed to Girl Scouts of the USA’s Council Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Advisory Team to develop nationally consistent goals and implementation strategies which will foster opportunities for girls to explore careers in scientific fields.
Bridges recently participated in the first STEM Advisory Team meeting at Scouting headquarters in New York City. She will continue to work in collaboration with the organization over the next year, along with members from 19 other councils and national STEM partners and funders.
Bridges’ position on the national advisory team will allow the local Girl Scouts council to provide insights and recommendations for engaging girls in age-appropriate activities that make science and math approachable, fun and relevant.
Girl Scouts is a leadership development organization dedicated to helping girls build courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.
