Summer Jazz Concert Series starts Aug. 1
The first show of the eight annual Summer Jazz Concert Series will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sun., Aug. 1 at The Gardens of the World, 2001 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks. All concerts are free.
Jazz group Sambaguru, featuring vocalist Katia Moraes, will perform on the garden’s central American Bandstand area.
Sambaguru is comprised of six musicians from Brazil, Sri Lanka and the United States. The group’s original, upbeat music runs the spectrum of rhythms and styles from across Brazil.
The ensemble has performed at many venues around the world, including the Playboy Jazz Festival, House of Blues and Getty Center.
Lawn seating is available in front of the bandstand. Blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets are welcome. Smoking, glass containers and pets are not allowed.
Free street parking is available. Parking for a fee is available across the street at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Center.
Subsequent concerts will feature The Fatum Brotheres Jazz Orchestra on Aug. 8, Spanky Wilson on Aug. 15, and The Influence Jazz Orchestra on Aug. 22.
