Law enforcement officer suspected of grand theft

Sgt. Steven Flamm Sgt. Steven Flamm There was a surprise waiting for a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department sergeant when he went to court to face grand theft and child endangerment charges on Monday.

After a hearing at Ventura County Superior Court on charges of shoplifting two jackets from Nordstrom at The Oaks mall in Thousand Oaks on May 1 with his daughter, who’s under the age of 10, Sgt. Steven Flamm was arrested again.

As in the Nordstrom case, police found probable cause to arrest the 44-year-old Flamm upon a review of store surveillance recordings. The latest videos showed Flamm allegedly stealing merchandise on June 3 at the Sears store in T.O.’s Janss Marketplace.

After a three-week investigation, police arrested the Moorpark resident on suspicion of shoplifting video games valued at $900. According to a police report, “an alert Sears’ employee” observed Flamm’s theft on a surveillance camera.

Flamm was booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility. His previous bail of $10,000 was increased to $50,000.
