Two La Reina softball players land on All-CIF first team

The CIF-Southern Section has released its All-CIF selections for baseball, softball and boys’ volleyball. Here are the area athletes who were honored:

Softball

Royal pitcher Nancy Bowling is a member of the All-CIF Division 1 first-team softball squad. Royal’s Ali Mosier and Shannon Kaufmann of Agoura made the second team.

Two La Reina standouts, Sarah Fox and Jordan Needle, made the Division 3 first team. Brett Hall of Oak Park and La Reina’s Christine Costello are secondteam choices.

Grace Brethren’s Kassy Dunn and Danielle Fletcher are Division 6 first-team members. Carleigh Peterson of Grace Brethren and Viewpoint’s Blaire Berka made the division’s second team.

Baseball

Four Marmonte League standouts made the Division 1 All-CIF first team. Royal High’s Cody Buckel, Westlake’s Christian Yelich, Moorpark’s Luke Swenson and Chad Clark of Agoura were chosen. Camarillo’s Michael Erb and Hueneme’s Jesus Valdez represent the Pacific View League on the first team.

Camarillo’s Andy Yingling is a member of the Division 1 second team. Royal’s Tyler Abbott and Jordan Brower from Newbury Park also made the division’s second team.

Oaks Christian’s Travis Radke, who tossed a pair of nohitters this season, is a Division 4 first-team selection. Drew Hacker, also of OCHS, made the second team.

Grace Brethren sluggers Chad Avena and Nick Schmidt were named to the Division 6 first team, where they’re joined by Viewpoint’s Tyler Sprague. Chris Meyers and Colby Wolffe of Grace Brethren are Division 6 second-team members.

Aaron Roth of Cornerstone Christian is the Player of the Year in Division 7 after helping guide the Camarillo-based program to its second consecutive section championship.

Cornerstone Christian’s Dean Drulias is Coach of the Year.

Marc Fitzgerald and Nathan Roth made the Division 7 first team for Cornerstone Christian while Mark Stover was a secondteam choice.

Volleyball

Like baseball, four from the Marmonte League made the All- CIF Division 2 volleyball team: Westlake’s Travis Magorien and Keats Stanley, Thousand Oaks’ Austin Kingi and Andrew Sato of Agoura.

Westlake’s Jacob Delson, Scott Hendrickson from Thousand Oaks, and Royal’s Stacey Kelly and Thor English are Division 2 second-team members. Westlake’s Colby Magorien, Thousand Oaks’ Jason Avina and Zech Burkhardt of Rio Mesa are all on the division’s third team.

Oak Park had two players placed on the Division 3 first team as Christien McManus and Michael Shea were honored for the Tri-Valley League champions.

Bradley Sakaida of OPHS is a member of the second team, while teammate Sam Saltman is a thirdteam choice.
