T.O. Philharmonic will play in L.A.

The Thousand Oaks Philharmonic, a nonprofit organization founded to give young artists a professional performance experience, was invited to perform as the guest orchestra at the 100th annual convention of the Music Teachers’ Association of California, “A Century of Education and Service,” at 3 p.m. Sat., July 3 in the Marquis Ballroom of the Los Angeles Airport Marriott Hotel.

The Philharmonic will perform during the association’s annual Concerto Competition, accompanying the finals of a statewide competition.

Repertoire for the concert includes Samuel Adler’s Piano Concerto No. 2, Rachmaninoff Second Piano Concerto, the Schumann Piano Concerto and Frederic Chopin’s Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise.

The orchestra received its invitation after several state board members and competition chairs attended several previous concerts. For more information, call the office at (805) 376-2485, e-mail executive director Edward Francis at edwardfrancis @roadrunner.com or go to www.tophil.org.
