Military groups to host ball at Reagan Library
The 25th annual Red, White and Blue Ball will be at 5:30 p.m. Sat., June 26 at the Presidential Learning Center, Reagan Library, 40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley.
The event will start with an open reception, followed by a formal opening ceremony.
The ball is presented by the Conejo Valley Chapter, Military Order of the World Wars; the Sgt. Michael A. DiRaimondo Chapter, Military Order of the Purple Heart; and national veterans organizations.
This is a formal military function that is open to the general public.
The event will have ceremonies, dinner, silent auction and dancing to the music of the Harry Selvin Orchestra.
Active, reserve and retired military are expected to wear their appropriate dress uniforms. The suggested public dress is dark suits or tuxedos and formal/cocktail dresses.
Former Gov. Pete Wilson and his wife, Gayle, will be recognized for their service to state and community. The Marine Corps will also be honored, with Lt. Gen. Joseph Dunford as the honorary chair.
Proceeds from the silent auction will support local Veterans Day ceremonies, Thousand Oaks Youth Leadership Conference, Junior ROTC awards, Patriotic Teacher and Student of the Year awards, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops and patriotic events.
