I’m saddened to read that our Santa, Dennis Van Vuren, recently passed away—but also thankful that I know he’s with the Lord.

I remember when my children where young and we visited “Santa.” Just before he said goodbye to them he asked, “So what is the meaning of Christmas?” Thankfully, they answered that it was Jesus’ birthday. Mr. Van Vuren replied, “Yes, that’s right,” and grinned from ear to ear before wishing them a “Merry Christmas.”

I thought it brave of him to ask such an un-politically correct question in Southern California, but will always be thankful that he did.
