The Thousand Oaks Council On Aging will host the annual Senior of the Year awards dinner at 6:30 p.m. Thurs., June 3 at the Goebel Senior Adult Center, 1385 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.

Tickets for the event are $5, which includes the dinner and entertainment.

Earlier in the year, the council sent notices and applications to organizations which cater to seniors or provide volunteer services for the public at large asking them to nominate one of their volunteers who they felt exemplified the spirit of volunteerism.

Most of these organizations are staffed with volunteer seniors who serve the community in many ways.

Five seniors have been nominated by their respective organizations for the award. The award recipient will be named at the conclusion of the awards dinner.

Besides the nominees, the event will also be attended by Thousand Oaks Mayor Dennis Gillete, Supervisor Linda Parks and a representative from Audra Strickland’s office.
