Musical summer camp for kids opens registration
Applications are being accepted for the 18th annual Pizazz Music Camp scheduled for Aug. 9 through 13 at the United Methodist Church of Westlake Village, 1049 S. Westlake Blvd., Westlake Village.
The camp will be from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The Friday schedule is 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and a 7 p.m. celebration performance for participants’ parents and friends. For an additional fee, extended day care for those who need it is provided until 4 p.m.
The summer musical arts camp is open to students entering grades one through eight. This year’s theme of “Kaleidoscope of Sound” will emphasize the infinite variety of musical sounds and rhythmic patterns, and what to listen for in music. A qualified staff uses singing, hand bell and choir chime ringing, choreographed movement and music enrichment.
The camp is sponsored by the church’s music ministry but is nonreligious.
Tuition, including a $25 nonrefundable application fee, is $135. The cost is $25 less if application and full payment are received by June 6. The fee includes a snack each day and a T-shirt with the camp logo.
Limited scholarship assistance is available.
