The drain on tax dollars for illegals cannot be ignored

It’s interesting Tina Aschenbrenner’s letter accusing others of racism, inaccuracies and ignorance implores identity politics this time to bully Emily Gonzales, whose recent letters about illegal immigrants prompted Tina to write, “It’s particularly disturbing when it comes from people who seem to have forgotten who they are and attack a group with which they should be better able to identify.”

Emily, you have a Hispanic last name either by marriage or not, and therefore you must support Hispanics and can’t speak out against them, even if they’re violating the law.

Mr. Borup’s March 25 letter (“In America, education is a right not a privilege”) went on to state that Emily is a hypocrite and anti-immigrant.

On a positive note, Tina finally got a quote right after all these years, but I must have missed where Emily wrote she was anti-immigrant, in this country illegally or even Hispanic, for that matter. Where’s the evidence to support this narrow view? And should one’s identity come before law and country?

Emily wrote letters expressing frustration at the financial drain of illegals, which no one but Tina can deny. All services are suffering, and the state finances will only continue to worsen without accountability of our leaders and unions.

I wonder if Tina would use the word “illegal” if someone broke into her home, used her utilities, did some work to help cover some costs but then demanded more from her.

There’s a difference between people who violate the law and those who actually do enter the country legally by following the rules! Some of us even try to follow the law for all citizens, state and country–and not just ones we “identify” with.

Furthermore, it’s fascinating that Tina wants people to respect those that don’t even respect our laws and then demand more rights.
