It’s a sure bet that you’ll have fun at Sunday’s poker tournament

You’re invited to participate in next Sunday’s third annual Texas Hold ’em Poker Tournament and Casino Night at The Canyon in Agoura Hills. The Thousand Oaks Kiwanis Club Foundation is hosting the event.

It’s a major fundraiser for the club.

Proceeds will benefit children, senior citizens and others in need of help. So even if you lose, you win because you’ll be helping others.

It promises to be an entertaining evening for anyone 21 and older. In addition to poker, there will be a dinner, casino games and more than 100 items in live and silent auctions.

The premier item in the live auction is an eight-day and seven-night “vacation of your dreams” for up to six couples in the luxurious 11,000-square-foot villa at Casa Acantilada. It includes six master bedroom suites, incredible accommodations and a full-time house staff of three.

Regarding the tables, if you’re worried that only card sharks play in poker tournaments, think again. Last year’s winner had never played Texas Hold ’em Poker before.

Prizes will be awarded to everyone competing at the final table.

The casino games (blackjack, craps and roulette) will also have prizes.

The registration fee for dinner and casino games is $40 in advance, $45 at the door. The poker buy-in is an additional $100.

The Acorn Newspapers is the presenting sponsor.

To register, call Lois Curran-Klein at (805) 496-1904 or go online to www.tokiwanis.org.

Registration begins at 4 p.m. with poker lessons and the silent auction. At 5 p.m. both the poker tournament and casino games begin.

The live auction is planned for 6:30 p.m.

The Canyon is in Whizin’s Shopping Center, 28912 Roadside Drive in Agoura Hills, east of Kanan Road.

We hope to see you there.
