Marmonte names all-league selections for winter season
The Marmonte League has announced its all-league recipients for the winter sports season. Here are the outstanding studentathletes who were honored:
Girls’ soccer
Madisen Hasenauer of Royal is the Marmonte’s most valuable player for girls’ soccer.
Moorpark’s Ariana Martinez is the offensive MVP, while Bridget Berman of Westlake was named defensive MVP. Co-MVP goalkeepers are Gabby Kaufman of Calabasas and Agoura’s Gina Goryoka.
Royal’s Kevin Corley and Julie Scheppele of Calabasas are sharing the coach of the year award.
First-team members are Heather Haney, Marie Mackenzie, Marilyn Alvarez and Emilee Boucher of Royal; Calabasas’ Lauren Busansky and Taylor Hobson; Anna Medler and Jordyn Zander from Newbury Park; Westlake’s Andrea Todak, Arielle Ship and Chloe Wheeler; Michelle Cruz of Thousand Oaks; Agoura’s Julie Watson; Samantha Gouirati, Rochell Daffau and Allison Sauve of Simi Valley; Moorpark’s Stacey Fujikuni and Alisa Reich.

Boys’ soccer
Royal’s Kyle Matthews and Alan Rivera of Simi Valley are co-most valuable players in boys’ soccer.
Thor English of Royal is the league’s offensive MVP. Newbury Park’s Eric Mueller was named defensive MVP. Nick Yasmen of Moorpark is the MVP goalkeeper, while Royal’s Ignacio Saldain was honored as coach of the year.
First-team selections are Brian Felberg, Tyler Buron and Chris Kinney of Agoura; Calabasas’ David Sandler; Mattias Friz of Moorpark; Cory Vilchis, Phillip Muscarella and Cory Leroy from Newbury Park; Royal’s Hayden Nicholson, Sean Upson and Alex Wardle; Diego Fontes, Joseph Membrila, Juan “Tony” Herrera and Salvador Orozco of Simi Valley; Westlake’s Nasser AbuGheida; and Thousand Oaks’ Alexis Cespedes and Juan Vitella.

Girls’ water polo
Agoura’s Savannah Fletcher and Emily Carson are co-most valuable players for Marmonte girls’ water polo.
Kayla McGinley of Agoura and Westlake’s Maddie DeRonde shared the most valuable goalkeeper award.
First-team selections are Agoura’s Jenna Cutino, Michelle Redding, Callan Edwards and Megan Linder; Kayleigh Sobieski and Eveline Van Brande from Newbury Park; Westlake’s Amy LeFevre and Jeanette Pasche; Hannah Guthman of Royal; Thousand Oaks’ Emily Pinsky and Lauren Barnett; Kris Tatiossian of Calabasas; and Moorpark’s Lexy Varshawsky.

Boys’ basketball
Alex Tiffin of Thousand Oaks and Jordan Coleman from Calabasas are co-most valuable players in boys’ hoops.
Thousand Oaks’ Richard Endres and Calabasas’ Jon Palarz shared the coach of the year award.
First-team selections are Jonathan Davis of Simi Valley; Westlake’s Mark Friedman; Hasan Khan of Agoura; Josh Langer from Calabasas; Royal’s Sam Schaefer; and James Whalen and Evann Hall of Thousand Oaks.
Second-team choices are Dominique Campbell from Calabasas; Simi Valley’s Danny Cox and Grant Keller; Joe Detweiler of Westlake; Matt Padavick from Royal; Newbury Park’s Stephen Santos; and David Weber of Agoura.
Third-team members are Shayan Boloor of Agoura; Jordan Brower from Newbury Park; Simi Valley’s CJ Faulwell; Lenard Gorokhov of Calabasas; Royal’s Jeremy Harry; Lionel Poole from Moorpark; and Westlake’s Devon Silber.
Girls’ basketball
Brittany Oster from Agoura is the league’s girls’ basketball most valuable player.
Agoura’s Steve Scifres was named varsity coach of the year. Chuck Alpin of Thousand Oaks is the junior varsity coach of the year, while Westlake’s Nick Kendel was honored as freshman coach of the year.
First-team choices are Sasha Borenstein and Kylie Cunningham of Agoura; T.O.’s Camilla Chun and Kathryn Deamer; Taylor Ignoto from Westlake; Royal’s Destinee La Fountain; and Roya Valikhani of Calabasas.
Second-team picks are Emily Cohen of Calabasas; Moorpark’s Adrianna Halamandaris and Lauren Rohach; Gabbi King and Kaity Lykins from Royal; Camille Mahlknecht of Agoura; and Newbury Park’s Jasmine Polk.
