Los Cerritos choir will perform a musical tribute

The award-winning Los Cerritos Middle School Choir will present a musical called “Bernard’s Cafe” at 7 p.m. Fri. and Sat., March 26 and 27 at the Thousand Oaks High School performing arts center, 2323 N. Moorpark Road.

The play is a tribute to the music of Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, and George and Ira Gershwin.

The musical was written and directed by Janice Hague, the middle school choir director.

Hague started the choir program in fall 2006.

Since then, the choir has grown to about 130 students from the sixth, seventh and eighth grades.

The choir performs several times during the school year and participates in music competitions, including the Music in the Parks Festival at Disneyland, in which they have placed first and received superior ratings.

Tickets are $6 pre-sale or $8 at the door.
