Voters would be better off without Parks or Strickland

First, this letter isn’t in defense of Audra Strickland because she is an indefensible political opportunist in search of a pension.

Paul Nicholson (Feb. 25 T.O.Acorn letters, “Few deserve reelection as much as Parks”) is and always will be an environmental willow fluttering on every utterance from Linda Parks.

I know all too well during my campaigning with Linda Parks. Nicholson was always in the wings with advice.

With regard to the censure hearing of Linda Parks at the Thousand Oaks City Council emergency meeting of Feb. 13, 2002: I called for the meeting ostensibly to remove my own planning commissioner, Mick Farris. He didn’t serve at my pleasure anymore.

Commissioner Nora Dukas was included in the removal vote because she, too, had colluded with Farris and Councilmember Parks on their votes.

Nicholson refers to the “special interest funded majority” but fails to mention the special funding of the Parks’ troupe by Councilmember Ed Masry.

Did he not have special interests? Masry always found a way to channel funds through creative PAC committees that were formed on his behalf.

The censure motion was made by Councilmember Andy Fox for Parks’ interference with planning commission issues, including speaking before planning commission meetings to influence 32 votes in her favor.

The censure motion by Fox was a surprise to me.

The meeting to remove the two commissioners wasn’t, since it was on the agenda.

The district would be well served if neither Parks nor Strickland were in office.
