Hospice of the Conejo offers volunteer training program

The nonprofit Hospice of the Conejo will run its spring community volunteer training program from 1 to 4 p.m. for eight Wednesdays starting April 7 at the hospice office, 80 E. Hillcrest Drive, Ste. 204, Thousand Oaks.

The training prepares individuals to deal compassionately and sensitively with end-of-life issues by providing them with the knowledge and skills to serve the terminally ill and their loved ones before, during and after the dying progress. They can also assist professional therapists in grief support groups.

Bilingual and male volunteers are especially needed, but all are welcome.

Volunteers maintain close ties with clients and their families during the final stages of life to run errands, be present and provide support.

Hospice of the Conejo serves the Conejo and Simi valleys and surrounding areas.

An interview and a $50 materials/background screening fee are required of volunteers.

For more information, call (805) 495-2145 or e-mail hospicevolunteers@adnetsol.com by March 15.
