Diplomacy can work all year long
It was a very sad day for all when 21-year-old Kumaritashvili died in the luge accident. I’ve stopped watching the Olympics since 9/11. I was upset that only five months after our country was attacked the games went on as usual.
This country of ours is addicted to sports, movie stars, “American idols” and weekends! All of this is fine when put in proper order.
What I can’t understand is that all these countries set aside hatred for each other for a couple of weeks.
That tells me that it’s a choice.
What about the other 50 weeks? To me, this is hypocrisy. If we can get along at the Olympics, why not all the time?
Maybe our summit talks shouldn’t be around a table but on a ski slope!
We’ve become a nation of idol-worshipers instead of Godworshipers. And we wonder why things are “going south” for us.
I pray for the peace and safety of America.
