Tony Campolo, PhD, a preacher, educator and founder of Evangelical Association for the Promotion of Education, will speak this weekend at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, 588 Camino Manzanas, Thousand Oaks.

The community is invited to the free events. A freewill offering will be taken.

Campolo will speak on “Christianity and the Secular World: Cooperation or Conflict?” at 7 p.m. Sat., Feb. 27.

He will address both the 9 and 10:45 a.m. worship services about “God, Evangelicals, Church and Social Justice” on Sun., Feb. 28. After the services, he will stay for lunch, beginning at noon, which will include time for questions and answers.

Campolo is professor emeritus of sociology at Eastern University in St. Davids, Pa., and the author of 35 books, including his most recent, “Red Letter Christian.”

As founder and president of EAPE, Campolo has worked to create and support programs for at-risk children in cities across North America and to establish schools and universities in developing countries.

He’s developed adult and child literacy centers, tutoring programs, orphanages, AIDS hospices, urban youth ministries and summer camps.
