Lively Chaparral Boys & Girls Club member Jared Mero was selected as Youth of the Month because of his strong leadership skills. He enthusiastically leads fellow club members in games and songs, and exhibits a consistently positive attitude. The third-grader’s favorite club activities are “Wild Card” (during which each member jots down on a card a desired activity, such as “bake cookies”), basketball (“I like shooting half-court shots and making them!”), drawing and French lessons. His favorite color is red, but his favorite French word is “bleu— because it sounds like ‘bleccch’!” Wherever Jared goes, laughter follows.

Youths of the Month at the Colina, Sequoia, Los Cerritos and Redwood Clubs are, respectively, Savannah Roberts, Lacey Koehler, Jacob deRonde and Fengting Liang.
