The 2010 Brighter Horizons: Careers Exploration in Math, Science and Technology will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Sat., March 6 at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.
Check-in is at 8 a.m., and workshops begin at 9 a.m.
Forty scientists, engineers and educators will present education activities to students in grades five through nine.
The 31 workshops will cover forensic science, veterinary medicine, chemistry, marine biology, entomology, rocket science, neuroscience, biochemistry and astronomy.
Students will attend three workshops of their choice.
In addition to student workshops, parents will attend workshops on finding the right college for their child, how to pay for college and how to guide their child’s education and career aspirations.
Representatives from CLU and California State University Channel Islands will be present to answer questions.
The conference is presented annually by the Ventura County branches of American Association of University Women.
The goal is to nurture student interest in math and science and allow them to explore career and higher education options in these fields.
The cost for students is $10. Students must preregister and sign up for workshops in advance at www.aauw-brighterhorizons.org.
