One-man show, ‘The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron’ celebrates the sexes
The Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Foundation will present “The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron” Fri. through Sun., Feb. 26, 27 and 28 at the Scherr Forum Theatre in the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.
Showtimes are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday.
The one-man show by actor/writer Robert Dubac pinpoints the differences between the sexes and celebrates them with 90 minutes of comedy.
The show opens with Bobby in a confused state. He’s found the girl of his dreams, but after he asks her to marry him, she dumps him. Why? Unable to answer this question, he recalls some advice he received growing up with five chauvinistic mentors.
Dubac transforms himself into these five alter egos, each offering his own brand of misguided advice.
The Colonel insists that the key to what women want is honesty, hence all men should admit they’re boneheads so they always have an out.
Jean-Michel says communication is what women want, and communicating with doubletalk and mindless metaphors is acceptable as long as you speak with a sexy accent.
Fast Eddie gives women what they want—passion. But he professes men have to “love ’em fast and leave ’em first.”
Old Mr. Linger believes women want a sense of humor. He’s 123 years old and believes he has discovered the secret to life—remaining single.
Ronnie Cabrezzi believes all women want is some sensitivity and sharing your secrets makes you sensitive. However, the kind of secrets he shares with his fiancee makes her angry.
With help from Bobby’s “feminine side” he is able to discover the answer to the question, “What do women want?”
