Boys & Girls Club gets new board members
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Conejo & Las Virgenes recently named Thomas Gurtner and Doug De Groote to its board of governors.
Gurtner, a native of Switzerland, has served for 20 years in the hotel business.
He is regional vice president of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and the general manager of Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village.
Gurtner and his wife, Nui, reside at Sherwood Country Club. They have three grown daughters, Michelle, Tina and Leilani.
De Groote is the managing director and founder of United Wealth Management, a division of United Capital Financial Partners Inc. He is a master certified member of the HS Dent Financial Advisors network.
Before starting United Wealth Management, he was a partner at Crowell, Weedon & Co. He also worked as a professional hunter in South Africa, where he learned Zulu and developed a commercial avocado ranch, which he still owns and operates.
He has an MBA from California Lutheran University.
De Groote and his wife, Samantha, live in Agoura Hills with their three children, Michele, 6, Maggie, 5, and Greg, 2.
