Council on Aging to present heart health event

The Thousand Oaks Council on Aging will present a heart health program targeted at women and open to the public at 1 p.m. Wed., Feb. 3 in the board room of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. The board room is on the third level of the plaza and behind the fountains.

A speakers reception with light refreshments will take place before the meeting from noon to 1 p.m.

A panel of experts will present up-to-date information to women and men on keeping their hearts healthy. The panelists are Dr. Vishva Dev, head of cardiology at Los Robles Hospital; Neil Baker, assistant regional director in the Western Region of the Mended Hearts organization; and Anne Toyoma and Mary Lins from the Los Robles Cardiac Rehab program.

Baker will discuss how members of Mended Hearts help those who have undergone heart surgery cope with their recovery after the procedures. Toyoma and Lins will talk about the psychological and physical aspects of recovery from heart issues.

The panel will be moderated by Susan Poprock, a registered nurse and vice president of professional services for Motion Pictures and Television Fund in Woodland Hills.
